Steven DeVane
Chief Executive Officer

Steven DeVane M. Div. worked with Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for six years before becoming a part of the Duvall Home family. He began his hospice career as a chaplain where he was an integral part of an Interdisciplinary team which provided medical, psycho-social and spiritual support to individuals and their families. Steven has served in Christian ministry since 1978 and has worked primarily in churches until moving to hospice care. He received his undergraduate degree from Stetson University, DeLand, Florida and his Masters of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.Steven is married to Lisa and they share seven children.






Marsha Shankleton

Marsha is a Volusia County resident for over twenty-five years, prior to that she was a speech and hearing pathologist with a specialty in developmental disabilities and language with the public schools in Ohio.  As an employee in the Developmental Disabilities Unit within the Department of Children and Families here in Florida, Marsha served in a variety of roles fulfilled with promotion. Marsha began as a case manager and was then promoted to become the very first Medicaid Waiver Coordinator of District 12. Marsha was strategic in implementing this new state-wide program and managing the oversight of its growth in subsequent years. After that she fulfilled the role as the Administrator of the Developmental Disabilities Unit for Volusia and Flagler counties. Marsha moved from the state agency to the private sector twelve years ago because she "was looking for joy-not just the paperwork and bureaucracy." That is when she found the Duvall Home and became the Director of Residential Services. Through many changes and the home's growth she now serves as the Chief Operating Officer. 




 
Christina Negri

Christina, a graduate from the University of Central Florida with her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management-Human Resources brings over 5 years of experience in employee relations, compensation, training and employment laws to the Duvall Home. Christina previously was the Director of Human Resources at a regional mortgage company that employed over one hundred people with offices in the Southeast United States. As the newly appointed Human Resources Manager of the Duvall Home, Christina is excited to have recently joined a team of passionate individuals dedicated to improving the lives of others.



 
Edward McDowell

Edward, a graduate of the University of South Florida for both his Bachelors and Masters Degree, was formerly the Director of ESE schools in Hillsborough County. Previous to that, he was a distinguished principal at several schools in the Tampa Bay area. Ed spent 35 years working as a teacher, principal, and then Director for the Hillsborough County School District before retiring in 2006. In 2009, Ed became the Director of Development for the Duvall Home and recently was appointed Director of Adult Day Training.


 
 
Mary Hargrave

Mary pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse after 15 years in sales, support and marketing for the computer industry and her own business. She has worked at various hospitals in the area focusing on intensive care and emergency medicine. Mary thought she found the right fit in Hospice care.  While it was fulfilling, there was still something missing. Then she found the Duvall Home. "Once I began my mission at the Duvall Home I knew it was for life. I have had the best two years at the Duvall Home, learning, teaching and helping my nursing staff grow into a strong and committed team for our residents. Some of the nursing staff has been here for over twenty years and have watched our residents grow from children to adults. With an aging population we are not only dealing with developmental issues but normal acute and chronic aging processes and having to make adjustments."




 
Liz Hargrove

Liz owned a successful business in Miami where she employed her knowledge garnered through a Bachelor's degree in English to write reports and advertisements for the business. She did some volunteer work with developmentally disabled adults and became inspired to go back to school for a master's degree in developmental disabilities and therapeutic education. She married a retired NFL player with a master's in counseling. He advocated for and counseled teens in crisis and encouraged Liz to follow her dream as well. She taught high school in the public schools ESE programs. She heard about the Duvall Home and started working there in 2004. She continues to maintain a state of Florida teaching certificate. Liz has been able to use business experience combined with her educational background to write reports that have increased funding for many disabled people and her Res Hab department's reports are part of maintaining the funding for many of Duvall Home residents. Liz started this second career as an advocate and with a desire to improve and enrich people's lives.

Samantha, was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida, a place she loves to call home. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Marketing from the University of Central Florida and eventually plans to continue her education to obtain a Master's Degree. Samantha came to the Duvall Home family as the Community Development Coordinator and recently was appointed Events and Marketing Coordinator. Prior to coming to the Duvall Home Samantha held an internship at the Daytona International Speedway as a Promotions Intern fulfilling her love for sports and obtaining great marketing experience.





Cindy Melton

Cindy is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and attended Angley College. Cindy has always had a special place in her heart for those with disabilities. She grew up with a girl diagnosed with down syndrome who lived to be 84 years old. Cindy watched as this girl's mother taught her everything from reading and writing to how to be independent. Cindy has worked at Duvall Home for over 30 years and is currently the McGaffin Hall Manager where she makes sure McGaffin Hall's 73 residents feel at home. Over her years spent at Duvall Home she has learned more than she could have imagined from the residents as she has watched many of them grow up and go through life's changes. In her spare time Cindy likes to go fishing and spend time having fun with her grandchildren. 



 
Millie Bowers

Millie is originally from Pennsylvania where she grew up and attended school at McDowell High School and Edinboro University. Millie worked for the Millcreek School District before moving to Florida and spending almost 30 years at Duvall Home where, "the interaction with the residents makes coming to work a joy." Millie has three children and seven grandchildren and loves going to concerts, working in the yard, and spending time with her dog, Barley, and her companion of nine years George.

Margaret has worked at Duvall Home for 23 years where she is currently a Group Home Manager. "I enjoy watching people succeed; all people. This job challenges me daily. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to see an individual succeed and knowing I played a small part," says Margaret.

Margaret grew up and attended college in Florida. She earned her bachelor's degree in history education with a minor in political science/ psychology from Florida A&M University. Before she became a part of the Duvall Home family Margaret was a teacher in the Volusia County school system. In her spare time she enjoys growing cactus, reading, and improving herself spiritually.

Matt is originally from Maryland where he grew up until his family moved to DeLand, Florida. Matt then began working at Duvall Home where he has spent the last 27 years. Matt has been married to Vicky Stanfield, who also works for Duvall Home, for 24 years and has a daughter named Summer who is currently attending college. On his time off, Matt enjoys going fishing and bowling.

Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Jessica moved to DeLand 18 years ago where she continues to reside today. Prior to working at Duvall Home, Jessica spent years in the hospitality industry until she decided it was time for a change. She has now been a part of the Duvall Home staff for 5 years. Jessica went to school to learn dietary management and nutrition guidelines and now manages the department as the Dietary Supervisor.

Janice was born and raised in DeLand, Florida. She has been working at Duvall Home on and off for 25 years and has also worked at Dial Medical and DeLand Middle School. Janice has two children, Allen Jr. and Asia. Allen Jr. recently graduated from University of Central Florida with a master's degree in Computer Science. Asia is currently in high school where she plans to continue her education to obtain a degree in Forensic Science.

Cindy has been a part of the Duvall Home family for over 30 years where she works as the Recreation Coordinator. "I love seeing the joy and happiness of the residents. Being able to interact with our residents on a daily basis really means the world to me," says Cindy. Cindy grew up and attended school in Southwick, Massachusetts where her love for the Boston Red Sox began. In her spare time she enjoys fishing and other water activities as well as watching movies and New England sports.
